Here is a recipe from our house to yours, especially focused on boosting our supply of crucial antioxidants with a tasty, nutritious, and balanced bowl of fruit, nuts, seeds, grains, and other great health foods.
Radiation of all kinds creates free-radicals in the body. We need to add antioxidants of varying kinds to our diet as much as we can to heal and protect. This acai bowl recipe is jam packed with antioxidants and the best kinds too. They are cancer fighting, age defying, and health boosting. Acai berries have some of the highest concentrations of antioxidants but this recipe takes it to a new level with antioxidants from berries, nuts, seeds, cocoa, and from beans (in the Ezekial cereal mix).
This recipe also packs in good protein: almond butter, hemp seeds and Ezekial cereal turn this dessert into a meal with a total of 18g of protein per bowl (two servings) – [7g from the 2 tbsp of almond butter, 3g from the 1tbsp of hemp seeds, and 8g from ½ cup of Ezekial cereal].
Enjoy for breakfast, lunch, a light dinner, or a snack!
Acai Bowl Recipe:
Makes 2 large servings
- 2 Sambazon Acai Berry Packs
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- ¼ cup liquid of choice (I used canned coconut milk but you can use coconut water or almond/cashew/hemp milk, etc.)
- Protein powder (optional for an added boost of protein)
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend well. I used a vitamix and decided to cut my banana up before blending for greater blending ease.
Add your own toppings:
- Assortment of fruits (I used strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries but you could also add mango, pineapple, apples, bananas, kiwi, ect.)
- Coconut shreds
- 2tbsp Almond butter per bowl (you can use any nut butter)
- 1tbsp hemp seeds per bowl (or chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, cahews, etc.)
- ½ cup Ezekial cereal per bowl (this is a powerhouse nutrition food you should learn more about)
Why make your own?
- It’s cheaper!
- It’s healthier! You know whether there is honey, sugar or other sweeteners and how much. You can choose organic. You can add protein powder of your own.
- You can add any toppings you want.
- You don’t have to drive anywhere.
